Highly Commended – Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers

As a photographer I am always working on improving what I do. Trying different things both with props and lighting techniques. Fashions change all the time so we need to evolve what we do.

One way of getting feedback on my photographs from other highly qualified professional photographers is to enter them in to competitions. This is¬†something¬†that I haven’t done much of lately (the summer is always very busy for us) and we have also been working on a few new projects that have taken quite a bit of our time.

This month I entered one photograph into the “Baby” category and was really pleased that it received a highly commended. Photographs are judged on technique, quality and the photographers artistic input 🙂 This is one of the photographs that I have taken as part of the NCT calendar, a project that I have really enjoyed working on after all I get to cuddle lots of babies (but don’t have the sleepless nights !)

For the photographers that read my blog this was taken with the Canon 5d MkIII and the Canon 85mm f1.8 lens. The camera settings were ¬†1/125 sec at f4.0 ISO 100. It was lit using the Elinchrom Quadras and a large Lastolite Ezybox Octa II. Post processing was done in Photoshop CC using some of the Nik ColorEfex 4 tools as well as some of my custom paint in actions 🙂
